Where can I find my photo cell??? I don’t see one
I wish I would have seen this video before calling an electrician who charged me $200 for two visits. He claimed my two new photocells were defective. The problem was he was shorting out my cells. He did not turn the power off, I asked if he wanted me to turn the power off from the garage he said no. Each time he tested my new photocell they worked then I noticed a spark when he was putting it back together in the box. I purchased a third new photocell and black tape for $15 followed this video and my exterior lights are on dusk to dawn. Thanks for an informative video.😀😀😀😀 This electrician lives in my neighborhood he was waiting on me to call him for a third visit but I repaired the photocell myself.
Hands hid from viewer what he was doing. Poor shot angle.
What an extremely helpful video for us non-electricians - thank you!
My lights stay on all day. Is that a bad photocell?
Thanks Mike .. it sure is a easy to follow instructions you demostrated.
Thank you, I don't consider myself a handyman however I was able to replace my photocontrol following your steps.
I hooked the photocell up correctly as I have done many times before, but for some reason when tie in the cell neutral the load red shuts off, I'm baffled. Any solutions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Hello I was wondering before I change the photo cell or transformer... My house light turns on but its very dim then it shuts off pretty quickly. Do you think the cell is the problem or the transformer? I am of course assuming this transformer even has anything to do with the photocell or is it strictly for the doorbell? I'm confused simply because it looks like from the location of the photocell on the outside of my garage to the inside where the transformer is installed it looks like they are exactly next to each other. I could be wrong... Does the transformer have anything to do w/the photocell? If not then I'll assume it is in fact the photocell that is the problem. Hope this all makes sense. Thank you...
Thanks for showing the steps !
Thanks for this good video ,if anyone want more details like this photocells, contact us : wally@longjoin.com we are the maufacturer for the smart photocells system.
How to deal with photocell four electric wires
How to connect JL-103B
So, you told me nothing...
Question: I've replaced the photocell on our house (thanks to your video!). However, the lights still turn on in broad daylight. Do you know why this is happening?
Same thing happened to me Did you fixed?
The red wire!! Does it goes to the power supply coming from house or to the bulbs? Where does LOAD wire goes to? To the bulbs or to the house? Red wire is LOAD wire?
Now here is a little mystery for me. This is a SUPERIOR pruning tutorial for a small tree. Over 1500 people have watched this video. And it is several years old. No one had given it a thumbs-up when I first found this video. People are missing out! I have been an arborist since the 1980s. I have some favorite tree care video guys on RUclips. But this covers the finer points of those very important choices and cuts. I will be looking for ways to promote this video. Yes, the sound could be enhanced. But you had NO MUSIC, for which I would THANK YOU anyway. Something I did not understand. Are you a landscaper more than a tree man? If so, I congratulate you. In all my years I have never seen a non-arborist do such a fine job as this.
Will this switch work? www.ceilingfanswitch.com/product/snr-100wf-photocell-light-sensor/ Thank you
So this wont make a light work like a motion sensor light? Also is thier a way to make it work like 1 or covert it to 12vdc to work with a camera
My photo eye screw keep loosing every night, I have to tight up every night. if I don't tight it up, the light will not turn on. What is the problem ? Thanks.
This was very informative. Except you were very clear on all wiring, but not where the Red connects to. ?
The red connects to black i know im late on this but wanted to let you know
@@medleykatharine6736 Hey. Thanks a lot for adding your comment.

I'm sorry I'm confused On the home there is three wires Black White Copper On the Photocell is Black White Red How do i connect?
Thanks Mike!
The photocell is functioning you idiot if you've seen he installed it
There are thousands of boxes on outside of houses
hello and thank u. i follwed this thoroughly. it worked the first night, brand new photocell, but the next night it didnt work. pitch black as i pulled up to my garage. help!
Can not find the photo cell anywhere on my house.
HakunaMatata it should be on either side of your house near your garage or exterior dusk to dawn light(s)
If the Photcell was working there would be no reason to replace the fuckin thing. lol
lol... That is what I was thinking.
But if you are replacing a bad photo eye I don't understand the safety step for the tape to test it, if it isn't working to begin with what does the tape do?
He thought it was a camera and he was pleasuring himself at the time while wearing women's underwear, he put the tape over "just incase" he was being filmed. This Mike dude has previous convictions for sexually abusing a door bell
Great video for DIYers. Thank you.
this can shortened, too much yaking....cut it down to 3 min
this was fantastic thank you! thank you thank you
Do you need the photo eye? I currently don't have anything installed. Can I use the photo cell that screws into the light fixture? Can you do a video on how to install a photo cell for the first time? Appreciate it.
I have never seen a home breaker box on the outside of a house. Seems dangerous to me.
+Ben Youmans if the breaker box are rated IP65 or above its safe.. There are many breaker box used outdoors e.g street lamps and traffic lights
Thank you very helpful!!!
Just a note on safety. Putting tape over a non-functioning photocell will actually tell you nothing. Always test your wires with a voltage meter or tester to ensure power is off.
bro I can't even comprehend why people make video's of such nonsense. if you do not really know proper and what your doing then don't expose yourself. I'm sure a great guy and others as well but it's nauseating.
@Daniel M just a way to test the photocell but always check power off for safety when playing with electricity.
Yes he did that
Mike i need help.. Im trying to install my own photo cell but i am confuse a bit about the red wire. On my box where the wiring is for the outside landscaping i see a black wire, white wire and a ground wire. Where do i connect the red wire too? please advise

The photo cell you installed is AC powered. Question: Will that work on DC power,if not can you recomend one that does. Im working with 12 VDC
Hi Mike this is shakil from Sri Lanka this is cool stuff where can i get this photo cell will this work for the street light too Thanks Shakil
u made a 3 min video into 7 min...but thanks..good video.
Hi Mike, Nice job with the video. I just posted a Photo eye on security lights. I like the way you shot yours.
I could barely hear this video until about 1:05 where they began to talk closer to the mic...again, this is another helpful video!
VERY helpful video! You are the best for posting this. I can't wait to get out fix mine!...I didn't have a clue. Thanks again for posting. Hopefully there are other things you might post in the future!
This video just saved us $50! An EXPENSIVE electrician was going to charge us $60 to come out and fix it in only 10 minutes or less. I saw this video, followed the steps, bought a new photocell sensor for $10, and WALA! Thank you for taking the time to make this video. :)
You pay mostly for knowledge not just time + don’t forget company taxes Workers salary , profit , gas etc etc
are you ISA cerified?
@mostro it might save a homeowner some money and the video shows safety procedures. good for Mike
